Casablanca Bourse Closes the Week in the Green, MASI Up 0.96%” or “MASI Rises 0.96% as Casablanca Stock Exchange Ends Friday Higher
The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed trading on Friday in positive territory, with its benchmark MASI index advancing 0.96% to settle at 18,474.84 points.
The MASI.20, which tracks the performance of 20 listed companies, rose 1.2% to 1,358.42 points, while the MASI.ESG — the index of companies with the best ESG ratings — gained 1.01% to 1,316.9 points. The MASI Mid and Small Cap index, which measures the share-price performance of listed small and medium-sized companies, bucked the trend with a loss of 0.26% to 1,839.82 points.
Among the international indices, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 and the FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid both closed higher, rising 1.19% to 17,722.95 points and 1.04% to 15,948.29 points, respectively.
Total trading volume topped 226.7 million dirhams, recorded mainly on the central (equities) market and dominated by transactions in Attijariwafa Bank (35.9 million dirhams), Marsa Maroc (27.9 million dirhams) and Travaux Généraux de Construction de Casablanca (26.04 million dirhams). Market capitalization, meanwhile, exceeded 1,057.7 billion dirhams.
At the individual-stock level, the biggest gains went to Maghrebail (+5.66% to 369.9 dirhams), M2M Group (+5% to 399 dirhams), Sothema (+4.74% to 385.95 dirhams), Rebab Company (+4.2% to 98.99 dirhams) and Fenie Brossette (+3.12% to 278.95 dirhams).
The steepest declines, by contrast, were posted by Cartier Saada (-7.57% to 25.40 dirhams), Zellidja (-5.99% to 189.15 dirhams), Société des Boissons du Maroc (-4.91% to 2,035 dirhams), Stiam (-4.76% to 847.6 dirhams) and CMGP Group (-2.9% to 335 dirhams).
