Travel receipts reached more than 24.96 billion dirhams by the end of March 2023, compared with just 10.36 billion dirhams over the same period in 2022, according to the Office des Changes (Foreign Exchange Office).
In its latest bulletin on the monthly indicators of external trade, the office noted that these receipts surpassed the level recorded at the end of March 2020 (17.21 billion dirhams), as well as that of the end of March 2019 (16.48 billion dirhams).
Travel expenditure over the first three months of the year also rose, settling at 5.48 billion dirhams. That brought the surplus on the travel balance to nearly 19.48 billion dirhams for the first quarter of 2023, against just 6.98 billion dirhams over the same period the previous year.
