Saudi Arabia has formally approved the implementing regulations governing property ownership for foreign Muslims who do not hold Saudi citizenship, in a move that opens a fresh avenue for buyers from abroad.
Under the new framework, foreign Muslims will be able to purchase real estate in specific zones designated by the state. According to Saudi authorities, the decision is intended to attract investment, energize the property market and help advance the goals of the kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The General Real Estate Authority has set up an official platform known as REGA, where foreign buyers can find out which areas are open to ownership, the types of property and real estate rights available, and the conditions and procedures required. The platform allows purchasers to complete every stage of the process online.
